Beginning in 1987 and continuing to the present, Lynden Miller has designed and overseen continuing improvements to the Perennial Garden.

Gardening with perennials has become increasingly popular, and the purpose of this garden is to show outstanding plants combined for their foliage and form as well as blooms. All the plants are labeled. Because a garden with only perennials would be almost empty in the winter months, many shrubs are used to give structure and interest throughout the year.

There are plantings in sun, shade, wet conditions as well as a section for the many plants which are at their best in the fall.
